6 weeks until Rare Disease Day 2026
Watch this space for the launch of our NEW mini training video and make sure you have your stripey socks at-the-ready because Rare Disease Day is looming!
Rare Disease Day is coming (Saturday 28th February) and this year is going to be bigger than ever. Since 2022 we have called on medics to #ShowYourStripes for Rare Disease Day. This year we are taking it a step further and are also asking healthcare professionals to #LearnYourStripes by watching a NEW mini training video.
Learn Your Stripes

The video is designed to be super-short but high impact, for those who may have never received any Rare Disease training. Freely accessible to all HPCs, we hope it will be the first step to becoming ‘rare aware’ for many UK healthcare professionals.
We understand the struggle faced by frontline NHS staff. We know that people with rare diseases wait an average of 5 years to reach diagnosis, ping-ponging between specialists and having unnecessary tests that further overextend our already stretched NHS workforce. Rare Disease training is needed now more than ever and our mini video is a great first step!
Show Your Stripes
28th February falls on a Saturday and we are asking you to dig out your stripey socks and ‘show your stripes’ as much as you can, during the final week of February. We will be organising a highlights gallery so please post images #ShowYourStripes @MedicsForRare. We have had incredible engagement over the years, sharing awareness whilst also showing support for people living with rare conditions.
Get Ready to Share
Medics for Rare Disease is launching a new Rare Disease Day page. Packed with information and assets, it has everything needed to enable supporters to share the campaign. We are a small team and would greatly appreciate your support to spread our key messages over personal social media and work channels.
Watch this space for the video launch and help us share the rare!
