M4RD is thrilled to shine a spotlight on our very special, five year partnership with emotive agency, as it has been shortlisted for a prestigious medical communications award! The team has been shortlisted for the ‘Excellence in Pro Bono Working’ category at the Communiqué Awards, that will take place on July 4th.
emotive and M4RD five years on
Last month, I hosted a podcast with emotive’s Emma Macleod and Charlotte Roe where we discussed the extraordinary partnership between emotive and M4RD. Emotive is an award-winning, medical communications agency. The team at emotive has supported M4RD on an ongoing, pro-bono basis for over five years now and it has been a major factor in the growth and development of of the charity.
It all began in 2018 when Lucy reached out to Chris Edmonds, emotive’s Chief Executive, about M4RD to request some pro-bono support “comms”. Chris replied immediately and they had their very first meeting shortly there-after in Lucy’s apartment in Switzerland (as Lucy was too heavily pregnant to venture far!) It was a true meeting of minds. Indeed, Chris has believed in and backed M4RD from that day on. This was not a one-project bro-bono offering but an ongoing strategic partnership that has flourished and evolved.

Over the last five years M4RD has gone from strength to strength. It has evolved hugely, providing training in universities and hospitals throughout the UK. The charity now has a nation-wide network of M4RD Ambassadors – clinicians, students and patients, providing expert presence and advocacy throughout the country. We have partnered with NHS England to provide rare disease expertise on their GeNotes platform, worked with medical schools on their curriculum design and provided thought leadership and counsel on a wide range of projects. We have even been asked to speak at Westminster! Our long-term partnership with Chris and the team at emotive has been a driving force behind the evolution of M4RD into the multi-faceted, dynamic organisation it is today.
Communiqué Awards
The Communiqué Awards take place yearly to recognise ‘excellence and best practice in medical affairs and healthcare communications’. The ‘Excellence in Pro Bono Working’ category is new this year. It recognises sector-leading work in this field and it is a true honour to be short-listed.
Lucy and I will be joining Chris and the emotive team at the awards ceremony in London. We are proud to be shortlisted alongside two extremely worthy candidates. This is another reason to toast our ongoing partnership with emotive and say a huge thanks for their ongoing commitment to our charity, belief in our mission and their canny expertise to drive M4RD forward!
